Over 2 years ago I was looking for anti-virus software. I had always had good success with Norton's. However, Gateway offered me a very good deal on 3 years of McAfee. After getting it, I found out why. McAfee is GARBAGE. All it has done is slow my computer down tremendously to the point that at times I can't even function on it: can't access web pages, chat online with friends, or anything, until the blasted McAfee gets done doing what it does. Further it takes seemingly much longer for pages to load and to be able to move about. The worse part of it all is that McAfee simply does NOT catch all of the viruses and spyware that it is supposed to catch. When I got my new computer, I went with Norton 360. I can see why Gateway offered their special 3-year deal on McAfee, because it's a piece of garbage. You might as well get a free one instead of paying for McAfee. I am stuck with it for about another year on this old computer, going at snail's like pace. Recently a friend of mine got McAfee included with his new computer, and noticed his computer began slowing down, and even his brother, who knows much about computers, made comments. I would NOT recommend McAfee. Go with Norton's. I don't know much about Trend Micro or the others, but Norton's Internet Utilites or Norton's 360 is good, or has been for me.
