The Kaspersky Anti-virus 2010 software program is the latest release from a company, that has a consistent track record, of offering versatile, user friendly products, to consumers and this latest offering, will not disappoint. The retail value is comparable to competitor products, but not necessarily reasonable. The installation process was rather smooth, but it does take a little bit of time to fully load, before actually using the application. The advanced settings offer real time protection from viruses and it boasts enhanced functionality, with regards to acting as a reliable shield from incoming attacks. Beginners will be at ease with the modernized interface and will be able to clearly see the types of malware strings, that are being detected. The automatic definition update option will keep the application up to date and ensure that your computer is protected against the latest threats out there. The program sensitivity can be adjusted, depending on user preferences and a signature feature for this version, is the urgent detection system, which essentially identifies what it deems to be suspicious behavioral patterns and blocks applications, from accessing your computer or from launching. The parameters for this new feature were established after collecting vital information from registered Kaspersky users, who agreed to volunteer generic system information, in order for this new safeguard to be created. The software does offer the option of not choosing to participate in having your generic operating system data collected, but it didn’t seem to be intrusive in that regard. This ofcourse provides an extra layer of security on your system, without tying up any resources. Kaspersky offers an all encompassing antivirus protection for instant messaging, emails and guards against pesky banner ads and phishing attempts. Essentially, it monitors incoming and outgoing network traffic and attempts to ascertain fairly quickly, what constitutes legitimate application activities or queries. The vulnerability scan feature will search for applications in your computer that have not been recently updated and flag them as potential security holes. Users are always notified, when something is determined to be questionable and do have the option, of choosing to be prompted each time or may opt to white list, trusted applications. The parental control option will prevent access to undesired sites and create an activity log, each time a child is logged on. Overall, this software package has all the features, you’d want in an anti-virus product. It does not have any known or obvious compatibility issues or conflicts with competitor products, that are installed in your system and it’s not a resource hog.
