The warning applies ONLY to BitDefender Antivirus 2010.
I installed BitDefender Antivirus 2010 on my home desktop (WinXP Pro SP3).
The installation and post-install reboot went OK. Upon returning to the desktop the BitDefender Antivirus 2010 Configuration automatically started.
I configured and then downloaded updates. The update required a reboot.
On reboot, just after all the Windows shutdown dialogs disappear, I got the BSoD (Blue Screen of Death). This happened for ALL reboots/shutowns after this.
Contacted BitDefender Support, did several removal/reinstalls, and NOTHING fixed the problem.
Fully removed BitDefender Antivirus 2010.
Installed BitDefender Antivirus 2009 (which I already had but did not install at the time) and the install, configuration + updates, reboots, were done with out a hitch.
BitDefender Antivirus 2009 did NOT cause the BSoD.
This is a problem specific to my systems's hardware, because I know of several other people who run BitDefender Antivirus 2010 without a problem. Just be warned about the 2010 version.
Bottome line, BitDefender AV 2009 works on my system, BitDefender AV 2010 does NOT work on my system.
EVALUATION: BitDefender Antivirus 2009
OUTSTANDING
The reason for going to BitDefender was because the last update of McAfee AV (which I was running) bogged-down my system.
With BitDefender AV 2009 my system purrs-like-a-kitten. Also the automatic Gaming Mode made all my games run better.
